Micro-credit institutions provide small loans to help the very poor develop income-generating activities.

Micro-businesses, such as the craft cooperatives in which the Lea Toto caregivers work, have great growth potential, but poor people cannot borrow money to boost their businesses from conventional banks, which require collateral and/or a certain level of creditworthiness.

HopeCraft provides a sales venue through which the women can market their beautiful hand-made crafts in the US. Profits from sales of the crafts in the US are used to purchase additional inventory and are re-invested in a micro-credit program. HopeCraft's goal is to make this program self-sustaining so as not to rely on donations.
